Obituary of Jeannette Brown

Hobart E. Jeannette Cline Brown, 96 of Hobart, NY died at home on May 15, 2013. She was born on August 22, 1916 in Stamford, NY the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Shrader) Scott. She was a graduate of Stamford Seminary and earned an R.N. from Kingston Hospital, where she was Valedictorian of her nursing class. She married Watson J. Cline on April 17, 1938, who predeceased her. She married Dr. F.D. Brown on October 18, 1986. Her nursing career included employment at Albany Medical Center, Bathgate Hospital in Stamford, NY, Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ and as office nurse for Dr. Brown in Hobart. She was a member of the Hobart United Methodist Church, Stamford-Hobart Senior Citizens Club, and a past member of the Hobart Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary and the Village of Hobart Planning Board. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Ralph) Beisler of Hobart, NY, son M. Andrew (Carol) Cline of South Windsor, CT, daughter Ruth Strasser of Fairborn, OH, and stepdaughter Bonnie Brown Navarro of Ithaca, NY as well as eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Dorothy Bruce, her husbands Watson Cline and F.D. Brown and son-in-law Richard O. Halterman, Jr. Calling hours will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Hobart United Methodist Church from 11-1pm with the Funeral Service at 1pm officiated by Rev. Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman. A reception will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hobart United Methodist Church, the Hobart Emergency Squad or Catskill Area Hospice.
