Obituary of Robert Merwin

DAVENPORT Robert Merwin, 82, of Davenport, passed away at home on June 25, 2013. He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Jefferson, the son of Donald and Irene (All) Merwyn. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until 1952, and worked for the DEC for 27 years, retiring in 1985. Robert married the former Dorothy Lester on March 27, 1954, in Oneonta. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and their wives, Paul and Karen of Davenport and Michael and Mary of Middleburgh; two granddaughters, Natalie Cooper of Delhi and Amanda Merwin of Otego; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Merwyn of Vails Gate; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours, a private memorial service in the Stamford Cemetery with Pastor Carol Wilson of the Davenport Presbyterian Church officiating, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, Davenport First Responders or the Davenport Presbyterian Church.
