Obituary of Marjorie June MacCracken

DAVENPORT — Marjorie June MacCracken, 88, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oneonta. She was born June 3, 1925, in the town of Davenport, the daughter of Walter and Mima (Butts) Gildersleeve. She married Durward MacCracken Jr. on June 14, 1947, in Davenport Presbyterian Church; he predeceased her. June first worked as a secretary for a chaplain at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; at Stamford National Bank; and manager of food service at Scotch Valley Ski Center. She was a member of Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, Rebecca Lodge, Davenport Fire Department Auxiliary, Davenport Senior Citizens Group and volunteered at Charlotte Valley Central School. She is survived by three children, Dawn Marie Stalder and her husband, Len, Penny MacIntyre and her husband, James and Durward MacCracken III and his wife, Cindy; two sisters, Nancy (Dey) Demarest and Betty Mae (Roy) Smith; seven grandchildren, David (Mary) Stalder, Charles (Monica) Decker, Kristen (Rich) Craft, Jennifer Ruchar, Christopher MacCracken, Shaylyn MacCracken and Michelle MacIntyre; and 14 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, Davenport, with the Rev. Carol Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport. A special thank you to staff at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Pastor Carol for her visits and Friday night dinners.
