Obituary of William H. Austin

William H. "Bill" Austin, 73, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 11, 1943 in Harpersfield, He was the son of the late Harold and Virginia (Harris) Austin. Mr. Austin was married on September 19, 1964 to Patricia A. O'Donnell. Bill worked for the Town of Davenport Highway Department for over 36 years until his retirement. He was a true outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and all that nature had to offer. He also enjoyed horses. For the past several years he has helped with the family maple syrup production. Bill also enjoyed spending time with his granddog, Jordan. Above all else Family was his greatest joy, Bill was a loving husband, supportive father and proud grandfather. Bill was predeceased by his son, Graig Austin on September 15, 2007 Besides his wife of 52 years, Patricia Austin, He is survived by his children: Brian (Grace) Austin of Sacramento, CA, Frank (Laurie) Austin of Davenport and Jodie (Edward) Malesky of Davenport; daughter at heart: Mary (Don) Banks of Otego; grandchildren: Danielle, Hillary, Aubrie, Lacie, Christopher and Erik; Siblings: Estella Wynkoop of Saugerties, Robert (Elaine) Austin of Sherburne, Linda (Scott) Allen of Wimauma, FL, James (Delores) Austin of Hobart; brother at heart: Jack (Nancy) Turner of Davenport; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and grandchildren at heart also survive. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM on Saturday, December 31, 2016 the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, State Highway 23, Davenport, with the Rev. Carol Wilson officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family one hour prior to the celebration from 1-2PM at the church.
