Obituary of John W. Tryon
STAMFORD
John "Bub" W. Tryon, 74, of Stamford, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born on April 30, 1939 in Hobart, the son of John E. and Lillian (Collins) Tryon. He married Diana Madore on July 31, 1976 in Bloomville.
John attended South Kortright Central School and helped his father with the family cattle dealing business. He served his country as a Marine from 1957 to 1960 when he was honorably discharged.
John was employed as a butcher for 20 years before retiring. He worked for Greendale, Parnett's and later Provini.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing; including bow hunting. In his spare time he created Native American artifacts like arrowheads & knives to give as gifts and sell. His family remembers him as a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diana Tryon of Stamford; a son, Tom Tryon of Roxbury; a daughter, April & John Bluemer of Massena; a daughter, Crystal & Anthonio Baker of Amsterdam; 3 grandsons, Thomas & Tim Tryon, and Evan Bluemer; siblings, Joyce & Dick Williams of Boynton Beach, Fla, and Mark & Sheila Tryon of Voorheesville; a mother in law, Beryl Murphy of Hobart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Francis "Petey" Tryon; and 3 sons, Michael, John & Philip.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, November, 5, 2013 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart, where a memorial service will take place following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Elliott Oakes officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
