Obituary of Harriet E. Mattice

Harriet E. Mattice passed away on January 10, 2017 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, following a long illness. Harriet was born on June 19, 1939 to Carl and Helen (Stickles) Brenn of Grand Gorge, NY. She graduated from Grand Gorge Central School in 1957 and embarked on a career in bookkeeping. Most notably, Harriet served as District Treasurer for Stamford Central School District for 25 years until her retirement in 1995. After retiring, Harriet enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers at home tending her flower gardens. She loved a good book and was highly skilled in the art of Japanese needlecraft known as Bunka. Most of all, Harriet loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her warm, generous and fun loving spirit. Harriet is survived by her devoted husband and soulmate, Richard Mattice; loving children: Stacy Mattice of East Greenbush, Shellie Blevins of Stamford and Donald "Chris" Mattice of Georgia; grandchildren: Jennifer Demaurez, Matthew (Stacey) Demaurez and Steven Mattice; great-granddaughters: Harper and Isabel Demaurez; brothers: Carl (Nancy) Brenn and James (Ellen) Brenn; step-brother: Charles (Ann) Victor; her aunt: Harriet Cipriani; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear friends: Charles and Sandy Ferris. Besides her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her sister, Carol DuMond. At Harriet's request there will be no service. Those wishing to remember her in a special way are encouraged to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
