Obituary of Richard Edgar Mostert

DelhiRichard Edgar Mostert, 81 of Delhi, NY passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at home. He was born January 28, 1933 in Delhi the son of Martin and Laura (Truscott) Mostert.He married Gertrude (Tweedie) Mostert on March 11, 1954 in First Presbyterian Church, Delhi, NY with Rev. Maurice Mitchell officiating.His favorite day of the year was April 1st, so he could go fishing.A graduate of Delaware Academy in the Class of 1951, he was the Salutatorian of his class. In November 1953 he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in November 1957. After the USAF he worked in Dubben Bros. Store for awhile, then was Superintendent of Building and Grounds at Delaware Academy for 33 years, retiring in June 1995.For over 65 years he was a Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi, NY.Mr. Mostert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gertrude Mostert; two sons, Gordon Mostert of McGraw, NY and Susan, Terry and Deb Mostert of East Meredith and a daughter Cindy Mostert of Delhi, NY; grandchildren, Nicholas and Lisa Mostert of McGraw NY, Rebecca and Kyle Hull of SanDiego, CA, Shannon and Brent Caron of Fishkill, NY, Jeremiah Anderson, Delhi, NY, and Sara Sulger and Kathryn Anderson, Cazenovia College. His great grandchildren; Brookley and Wyatt Mostert, Madison and Alexis Hull and Makayla and Lucas Caron. Also two sisters, Jane and Croswell Ireland, Homer, NY and Wilma and Josh Heller, Bainbridge, NY and sisters-in-law Linda Shepard, Delancey and Marge Tweedie, Margaretville as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Laura Mostert and his sister Carolyn Allen.Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 2-5pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, NY. Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:00am in First Presbyterian Church, Delhi, NY with John Truscott, Commissioned Lay Preacher officiating.
