Obituary of Hugh E. Lee
Bovina Center Hugh E. Lee, 88 of Bovina Center, NY passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. He was born December 3, 1925 in Ashland, NY the son of Hugh A. and Ruth Brownell Lee. He married the late Patricia Hernandez on June 14, 1952 in Queens, NY. She predeceased him April 3, 2014. They moved to Bovina Center in 1971. Mr. Lee entered the United States Army in 1944 and was discharged as a Corporal in 1946 as a member of Company C 17th Armored Battalion Gunner in M4 Sherman. He retired as Director of Instruction Resources, SUNY Delhi, in 1991. He was a member of the Bovina United Presbyterian Church; the First President of the Bovina Historical Society; Board Member of the Bovina Library; Delhi Art Group; Town of Bovina Historian and Justice of the Peace in Bovina. He is survived by a son, Jonathan and Mary Lynne Lee of Sauquoit; a daughter Susan and Randy Brown of Delhi; a daughter, Jennifer Aikens of Bovina Center; grandchildren, Emma Brown of Rochester, Katie and Matthew Aikens of Bovina, Justin Lee of Sauquoit. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 4-7pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Bovina United Presbyterian Church at 11:00am with Rev. Marena Vittorio officiating.
