Obituary of Wilhelm F. Sander

West Kortright Wilhelm F. Sander Jr. 80 of Delhi went to be with his loving wife Helen E. Sander on Sunday June 8, 2014 at Bassett Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Dad was born on February 11th 1934 in Wabash, Nebraska to Wilhelm and Frieda Sander. The loving family moved from Nebraska to New Jersey and then settled in 1942 on the dairy farm in the valley that would go on to become "The Peaceful Valley Farm." Dad was very active in the FFA program and was the president of it at the time of his graduation from South Kortright in 1951. After his graduation he and his best friend Clarence Hall traveled across the country to see the world. He returned home to the farm and ran it with his family. Dad was a bachelor until the age of 30, when he met and married Helen E. Knapp on November 7, 1964. They continued to farm until September 2001 when Dad's health issues forced them to sell their beloved cows. Dad loved the American Flag, eagles, and flea markets. Dad is survived by his daughter's Marie(Dominick)Sebastian, Bethany Sander (Mike Sisson), Donald Knapp, Albert(Patti)Knapp, and Lori Knapp(Roger Winne). His brother Henry(Freda)Sander, sister Frieda(Frank)Snyder, sister-in-law Irene Sander, sister-in-law Ramona Currie, and brother-in-law Larrry (Joanne)Graham and a very special cousin Elsbeth Hellmann. Dad is also survived by six granddaughters, Krysthe Knapp(Chris Miller), DanielleFranco(Rob Glynn), Meaghan Sebastian (David Scully), Marcy Sebastian (Josh Sutton), Nikki Marie Sebastian, Michaela Sisson, great grandson Demetri Diesel Miller, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his loving wife Helen and his brother Donald. Calling hours for Dad with be on June 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on June 21st at 1pm at the West Kortright Center, Church Road, East Meredith with Pastor Carol Wilson officiating, with a reception to follow at the East Meredith Fire Department. Contributions may be made in Dad's memory to the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church or to the West Kortright Centre.
