Obituary of George A. Skog

BLOOMVILLE George A. Skog Jr., 73, of Bloomville passed away Saturday, June 28 at home. George was born on May 15, 1941 in Brooklyn NY to the late George A. Sr. and Helen E. (White) Skog. He moved to Bloomville with his family in 1951. He graduated from South Kortright Central School in 1959. George entered the US Navy in January of 1963 and served as a Communications Technician in Morocco and Scotland. He was employed by New York State Electric and Gas as a Chief Lineman, retiring in 2000 after 33 years. He loved spending time with family and friends and took special joy in spending time with his grandsons. An active member of American Legion Post 190 in Delhi, George was a past Commander. George married Sue Johnson on October 16, 1976 at the Bloomville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue and three children Stacy and Kyle Osborn, Erik Skog and Christine Wellington and Matthew Skog. Grandsons Jon Osborn and Liam Skog. He is also survived by a sister Shirley and Richard Nesbitt, Aunt Margaret White, Sister in law Linda Burdick and Dean Scherer, Mother in Law Dorothy Johnson. Nieces and nephews Debbie and Donald Coager, Ricky and Joann Nesbitt, Amy Burdick and William Vitarius and Lydia Vitarius, Joseph Burdick, William Burdick and Ashley Tichnor, Dustin Nesbitt, Brooke and Dustin White, Kyle and Aislynn Coager and Oliver Coager. Calling hours will be held at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart on Friday July 4, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, July 5 at the Bloomville United Methodist Church with internment immediately following in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.
