Obituary of James Dibble

DELHI James Dibble, born November 18, 1920 in Harpersfield, passed away quietly on Saturday evening, August 2, 2014 at home. James was the son of the late James and Rena (Bush) Dibble. On July 22, 1956 he married Barbara Gibson. Jim had his own milk hauling business. He later went to work for Catskill Craftsmen in Stamford for a number of years until an accident caused him to lose the fingers on his left hand. Eventually, he became an auto mechanic for R. H. Lewis & Sons until he retired. Jim was a WWII Army Veteran, serving from 1945 to 1947. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a 36 year member of the Delhi American Legion Post #190. He was also a member of the Sidney Moose Club and Fire Chief of the Bloomville Fire Department for 3 years. During his retirement he enjoyed hunting, raising beef cattle, watching the New York Mets, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and umpiring baseball and softball games. Jim was always just a phone call away for anyone who needed help. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; a son Frank and Andrea Dibble; a daughter, Pamela Dibble; and a son, Edwin Dibble; brothers, Donald and Yeska Dibble, Charlie and Shirley Dibble; and a sister Viola and Vern Hyatt; grandchildren, James and Angela Dibble of Shreveport, LA, James Harrington and partner Linda Astuto of Meridale, Christopher Sargent and partner Carrie Remillard of Walton, Jennifer Harrington and partner Chris Allen of New Woodstock, Anthony Palladino and partner Brittney Ramos of Oneonta, Chasiti Dibble and partner Nick Valese of Delhi; great grandchildren, Carter, Noel, Abigail, Brent, and Dylan; several nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, his puppy Buster. He was predeceased by his parents, and numerous brothers and sisters. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with a memorial service immediately following at 4 p.m., with Rev.
