Obituary of David Phillip William Dax
South Kortright David Phillip William Dax, 75 of South Kortright, New York passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, New York. He was born November 21, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Joseph William Krapp Dax and Frances (Dills) Dax. He married Diane L. Powell in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Dax was a Marksman and Information Specialist in the National Guard/Army. He was known as an Artist, Designer, Engineer and Businessman. He was an Award-winning sculptor and filmmaker. He earned an M.B.A. from Ohio State University where he taught Fine Art, and Photography as well as Capital University. He was Co-Founder of the Hiderbooks and Packaging Design Company, designing for the US Senate, Library of Congress and the Supreme Court. This business was located in South Kortright at The Plum Tree and Banquet Hall. An avid boater he enjoyed woodworking. A true gentleman David was also a loving husband and wonderful father. He is survived by his wife Diane L. Powell; a daughter, Ariel Delacroix Dax; and a sister-in-law, Mary Powell and her husband Bruce Powell and a nephew David Powell. There will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held at The Plum Tree, 10559 Cty Hwy 18, South Kortright, New York 13842 at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
