Obituary of Sandra Champlin

SOUTH KORTRIGHT Sandra Champlin, 73, of South Kortright, died Sunday, Oct 5, 2014 at Robinson Terrace, Stamford. She was born Feb 8, 1941 in Albany, the daughter of Blaine and Nellie (Accurso) VanHoesen. She married Frank Champlin on Aug 8, 1964 in South Kortright. Sandra farmed with her husband until he passed in 1980, then took over the farm until 1983. We will all miss the best spaghetti sauce and chicken noodle soup anyone has ever made. She and Ruthie were always ready to drop everything at the ring of a phone call to cheer at the girls games, go camping or just to come and hang out. They were both always so willing to help anybody. Sandy's family always came first no matter what. She loved word searches, bingo, solitaire, and especially playing pinochle with her family and friends. Mom will live on in our broken hearts forever. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene and Melvin Ackerman; sons, Keith and Katlin Champlin and Scott and Lisa Swart; grandchildren Leann Palmatier and fiancé Gabe Albanese, Kayla Martin, Amanda Martin, Ellie and Faith Swart, and Aiden and Mylie Champlin; great grandchildren, Anthony Martinez, Jonathan Stewart, Olivia Albanese and Levi Potter; 3 sisters, Lillian and Dick Gorence, Dora and Ted Eighmey, and Dorothy and Jim Cohn; sistar in laws, Margaret Decker, Donna Champlin, and Doris Clark; brother in law Leon Champlin; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her long time best friend, Ruth Hunter. There will be no calling hours and a small service for the family will be held as per Sandra's request. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.
