Obituary of Perri Dimitri DeFreece
Perri Dimitri DeFreece, 55 of South Kortright, New York passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born July 31, 1959 in Orlando, Florida the son of William O. F. and Carol (Warner) DeFreece. Mr. DeFreece was a resident of the area for thirty years. Perri was a proud Veteran of the US Navy, serving as a Corpsman with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force the USS Ponce; and also as a Pharmacist's Mate at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. He was the recipient of several service awards, including Sailor or the Year. He was Chief of the University Police at State University College of Technology at Delhi and was a member of the NYS University Police Chiefs Association. Perri was an avid outdoorsman who had a high regard and respect for the natural resources in our rivers, streams, oceans, and woods. Though his budding love of motorcycle riding he was a "Probie" with the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, West Point Chapter. His cooking talents were well known. Cooking was something he found relaxing and he liked sharing culinary approaches with family and friends—he included LOVE as a key ingredient in every dish. He is survived by his parents, William and Carol DeFreece; his children, Marcus, William and Dominique; a brother Peter (Jennifer) DeFreece and a sister Babette Lanier as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Theater of Farrell Hall Commons , SUNY Delhi. There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. SUNY Delhi has established the Chief Perri DeFreece Memorial Criminal Justice Scholarship.
