Obituary of Harold Collins
Harold "Pete" Collins, 77, currently of Stamford, but a lifelong resident of Hobart, passed away on Sunday evening, February 5, 2017 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, New York
Born on November 16, 1939 in the Town of Stamford, Pete was the son of the late Louie and Genevieve (Roe) Collins.
Mr. Collins was a supervisor at Deltown Specialties in Delhi until his retirement.
He was married to Carolyn A. (Berry) Collins on July 11, 1959.
Pete enjoyed the outdoors and in his younger years he liked to hunt and fish. Sports were an important part of Pete's life. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets Baseball and the Syracuse Orangeman Basketball teams. Pete and Carolyn also enjoyed trips together to casinos in Atlantic City. Above all else Pete was a family man, his family was his greatest joy and he was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather.
Besides his parents, Mr. Collins was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor and brother, Charles.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Collins of Stamford; children: Vicki (Douglas) McMullen of Hobart, Darrell (Elizabeth) Collins of Oneonta, Darren (Sandra McGlynn) Collins of Grand Gorge and Eric (Feliciano Gevera) Collins of Queens, NY; grandchildren: Matthew, Lucas, Cassandra, Emily, Sarah, Nicholas, David, James, Kevin, Liam and Kathleen; great-grandchildren: Jaithen, Lily and Ruby; a brother: Daniel Collins of CT; great-nephew: Evan; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held at MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. Graveside services will be held in the Spring at Locust Hill Cemetery.
