Obituary of Jere C. Myers

Jere C. Meyers, 89 of Davenport, NY, born September 25, 1925 in Lancaster, PA, passed away April 29,2015 at the NYS Veteran's Home in Oxford. Jere served in the Navy during World War II. When he returned, he was employed by Nabisco, where he was know as the Cookie Man. Following many years of service, Jere retired from Nabisco in 1985. In retirement, he enjoyed wood-working, gardening and traveling with his wife Elsie in their RV. Jere was a lover of nature, enjoying camping, hiking and fishing. He was a very active member of the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon, and was a member of the VFW. Jere and Elsie volunteered in the Charlotte Valley School System and delivered Meals on Wheels. Jere is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elsie; a daughter Jay Candace Shames (Mark); as well as step-children, Dr. Linda Miles (Dr. Rich Vaughn) and David Boyce (Kathleen), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Jere's family requests that donations be made in Jere's memory to the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, PO Box 184, Davenport, NY 13750.
