Obituary of Theodore S. Bell

Theodore S. Bell, Sr., of South Gilboa, New York passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at home. He was born in the Town of Irvington, New Jersey the son of Frank Arthur and Estella(Sanok) Bell. He attended school in New Jersey, graduating high school and then enlisting in the U.S. Marines, serving in World War II for 2 years, being Honorably Discharged in October 1947 as a Corporal. He received rifle sharpshooter, carbine marksman and BAR expert Medals while serving as a Armorer Aircraft Specialist aboard the USS Mindoro and the USS Silbony. After serving his country, he returned home to the family farm to assist his parents. He was a master carpenter and assisted in building many of the outbuildings on his family farm, all while attending Agricultural College, graduating in March 1951. Ted made his home in South Gilboa where he lived and enjoyed his beautiful gardens and trees. He was employed for many years as a butcher for Greendell Meat Packing Company and for many years until his retirement at Delhi Tech College. Surviving are his daughter Debra (Bell) Walker and her husband Sam Walker; daughter, Lori Craig and son Theodore (Steven) Bell Jr.; His grandchildren, Michelle Cavalier, Jennifer Hume, James Hume, Cristi Craig, Amanda Craig, Joshua Bell, Autumn Bell and Britney Bell; and great grandchildren, Robert, Jackson and Madelyn Cavalier and Adian and Sylar Lent. Also, a brother Frank A. Bell Jr. and his wife Carol Bell and two nephews, Keith Bell and his family and Jeffrey Bell and his family. Ted was a gently caring man who always had a smile for everyone. He loved nature and animals and lived life simply. He will be missed by his family. There will be a private Memorial Celebration of his Life later in the summer.
