Obituary of Richard E. Shipman
Richard E. Shipman Sr., 76, of Stamford, passed away on Sept. 14, 2015, in Albany Medical Center ICU. Dick was born in Somerville, New Jersey, on Oct. 7, 1938, the son of Charles Goodrich and Lucy Marie (Payne) Shipman.
At the age of 17, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for four years. After being honorably discharged, he was a long-distance truck driver for many years. In the 1980's he moved to Stamford and had his own business as a carpenter.
Dick was well-liked and had many friends. He loved to go fishing and hunting, and enjoyed the NASCAR races.
Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Donald R. Shipman, he is survived by his sons, Mickey, Richard Jr., Timmy and David. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Harriet Shipman; aunt Dorothy Denyse; cousins, Patricia Plaia, Betty and Rick Trapanese, Dennis and Kathy Denyse, Karen DeNyse, Cathy DeNyse; many nieces and nephews, including special niece ad newpew, Dr. Laura Shipman Boeher and Robert Shipman.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, from noon until 3 pm., at the Veterans' Club, state Route 10 in Stamford. There will be no public funeral service.
