Condolences
I would like to express my sympathy on the passing of your dear mother DOROTHY. I personally never met your mother but I did speak to her periodically over the past 10 years or so by phone. My name is Annie and my mother was Dorothy's childhood friend Peggy Salmon. My mom always spoke fondly of your mom. My siblings and I were told stories of DOROTHY by our mom. She truly treasured the friendship and the bond they shared growing up during the hard days of the Great Depression in the Bronx. I know they always stayed in touch with each other and my parents came to her home in Stamford. I called your mom back in October to let her know that my mom passed away on October 12th but the phone was answered by a nursing aide. I do not know what happened , the aide didn't provide any information. I left a message and thought I would hear from DOROTHY in a few months after my call. I recently checked her name on Google and found her obituary. Your mom would call me to check on my mom who suffered from Alzheimer's that had been preceded by years of severe depression. Your mom's calls would always lift my mom's spirits. I am sure they are both relaxing in heaven enjoying their shared memories and having a good giggle too!!!
So very sorry for your loss. Dorothy was a wonderful person and truly happy for the joys of others. She was a ray of sunshine at Stamford Central and I truly enjoyed working with her. May she rest in peace. Glen and Vicki Joshpe
I remember Mrs. Friedman very clearly from grade school up through graduation and when I would come home at times from college and grad school. She was one of the most high-energy people I have ever known, was always helpful and always seemed to be in great spirits. I am sure she is more than well-remembered by many, many more people than I who had the pleasure of growing up in Stamford and attending SCS . What a great person.

I'm saddened to read of Dorothy's passing. She called me less than a year ago to inquire about my mother - Dot Wright. They shared a first name, a love of hats, a strong and independent spirit, and a great friendship. My Mom still wears the hat and scarf Dorothy gave her. I will cherish it and also wear it and recall how touched I was when she reached out across the country to touch an old friend.
My thoughts and my mother's memories of Dorothy are with you.

Dorothy was a great woman. RIP Dorothy.
I will sure miss Dorthy. She used to bring my daycare kiddies books & teddy bears, because she said reading was important and every child should have a special teddy at daycare. I visited Dorthy the last time she was in O'Connor hospital and she asked me then about the kids and if the new group liked to read. RIP my friend we will miss you. <3
Ah the memories. After many meetings at the cemetery and her at her house making sure everything was just right for her and her beloved "Jack". And the hats, always wearing a hat. Rest peacefully dear lady, your work here is done. God bless.
Respectfully, Bob and Mary Sickler
