Obituary of Millard F. Russell

OBITUARY Millard F. Russell, Jr. Bovina Center, NY Millard F. Russell, Jr., 91, of Bovina Center left this good earth on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi. He was born in Bovina Center, NY on October 16, 1924 to Isabelle and Millard Russell, Sr. Millard loved his community and cherished his family. Affectionately known as 'Stub', he was earnest and hardworking, and dedicated himself to his family and work. He lived all of his life on the farm that he diligently tended, and the beauty and fruitfulness of the land gave him great satisfaction. He was happily married to his beloved wife Claire Ellen Rabeler Russell, who passed away in 1994. Millard and Claire had three children. Mr. Russell owned and operated Mount View Farm, the family farm in Bovina Center, until his retirement. He raised registered Holsteins and won the Progressive Breeders Registry Award. He was an honor roll member of the Delaware Co. Holstein Club and a member of the Farm Bureau. After selling his Mount View registered cattle business, he continued farming for many years, stewarding heifers for Joe Whittaker of Delhi. Millard loved watching baseball and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. He liked bowling and played on local bowling leagues for many years. He also enjoyed reading and listening to music, especially classic country and polka. Besides his parents and wife, Millard was predeceased by a brother, Clifton Russell and a cousin Ronald Russell. Mr. Russell is survived by his sons Claude Russell and James Russell; daughter Carmen Russell Shaw; grandchildren Anne Shaw and her husband Tyler Beckelman, and Hilary Shaw; and brother John Russell and his wife Marjorie, cousin David Russell as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Services for Millard will take place on Monday, November 30th, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church; 565 Andes Rd; Delhi. All are welcome. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church followed by the funeral service with the Rev. John Priest officiant at 11:00. Millard will be laid to rest at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Delhi, NY directly following the funeral service.
