Obituary of Virginia Margaret Kelly Cornell

Virginia Margaret Kelly Cornell, 93, of Bloomville, went home to meet her Savior on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford. She was born in Colchester on October 3, 1922 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Peck) Kelly. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Clinton in December of 1994 and soon after by her older brother Reginald. She is survived by her younger brother Larry Kelly of Delhi and her daughter Kay Wilson, also of Delhi. She leaves to the world many beautiful grandchildren: Eileen, Jeff, Brian, Jodi, Jay, Robin, Rebekah, Margaret, Emily, Sarah and their families. Ginny graduated from Bloomville High School in 1938 when she was fifteen. During WWII she worked at Scintilla for the war effort as a line inspector for the production of airplane rotor. After the ware, in 1946, Ginny worked for the Bloomville Diner. A year later she bought the business and cooked for and ran "Ginny's Restaurant" until 1967. Next, Ginny worked for Delaware County Dept. of Social Services until her retirement at age 72, in 1994. She spent the first years of her retirement driving older people to appointments, this she continued until she was no longer able to drive. Ginny became a born-again Christian on December 7, 1941 when she realized she need to settle the question of where she would spend eternity. She took John 3:16 to heart: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." In the 1960's she became one of the founding members of the Delhi Community Church where she fellowshipped in faith until God called her home. In her later years, still wanting to be an active member of the community, Ginny let her home be used for Backyard Bible Clubs for the children. It was at her house that the women's Bible Study and Prayer group - the Faith Warriors- was begun. It Continues. Ginny is a beloved woman of faith who leaves behind generations of her own family, a church family and many communities of devoted friends whose lives have been challenged, inspired and blessed by the way she shared her loving life. Her favorite Bible verse was John 14:27 (We can hear her speaking it still): Jesus is talking: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 3PM on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Delhi Community Church, 46378 State Highway 10, Delhi, with the Rev. Derek Johnson, officiating. Spring burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville. Contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to the Delhi Community Church or to Catskill Area Hospice, 116 Main Street, Delhi, NY 13753
