Obituary of Garey Lee Turner

Garey Lee Turner, 66, of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Davenport, NY, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016. He was born November 18, 1949 in Oneonta, the son of the late Earl A. and Susan (Newcomb) Turner. He married Betty Sue (Wynne) Turner. Garey went to Charlotte Valley Central School and enjoyed employment as a diesel mechanic in Texas, Alaska and Colorado. He was predeceased by his wife Betty on July 29, 2011 and his daughter April Rachel Turner on September 13, 2014. He is survived by: daughters: Valerie Wheeler (Mark) Mace and their children, Brenda, Aiden and Avery of College Station, TX and Melanie Wheeler (Ben) Jakosky and their daughter, Carley of Firestone, CO; and a son Matt Wheeler of Houston, TX and April's son, Beaux Alvarado of TX. Also two sisters, Nancy Jones of King, NC, Patricia (Lewis) Barney of West Oneonta and a brother, Arthur (Lynda) Turner of Hobart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held in Colorado on Friday, February 26, 2016 in Lyons. Committal services will be held in the Spring at Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, NY Local arrangements are with MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
