Obituary of Clyde F. Harder

Clyde Francis Harder. 61, a 21-year Walton resident, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Oct 31, 2013, at his home. Clyde was born July 24, 1952 in Delhi, the son of Maurice W. and Catherine E. (Brown) Harder. He grew up in Treadwell and Delhi, graduating from Delaware Academy, Delhi, in 1971, and married Joanne M. Nault, May 21, 1977. A U.S. Army veteran, Clyde was proud of his 21 years of military service, both overseas and stateside, from 1971 to 1992, retiring as First Sergeant. Subsequently, he was employed as a shipping and receiving clerk for Delhi Central school, retiring in 2011. His memberships included Delhi Memorial VFW Post No.10550 and Walton American Legion Post No. 32. Clyde also had a fondness of American Eagles, and was an avid motorcyclist. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Joanne M. Harder, at home; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Joseph Hrouda, of Hopewell Junction; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Cindy Harder, of Delhi; his mother and father-in-law, Nellie and John Nault, of Delhi; a goddaughter, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother, William Harder, who died in 1983. Visitation and funeral services, including Military Honors, were Monday, Nov 4, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi. The Rev.Martha E.Vink, Pastor of The United Ministry of Delhi, officiated. Private burial was in the family plot at Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin. Memorial contributions to "Wounded Warrior Project" will be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi
