Obituary of Rose Mary Boughton

Rose Mary Boughton, 96, died December 22, 2014 at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Oneonta. Born on July 14, 1918 in Klein, Montana, She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Strnod) Ivansik. Rose graduated from East Worcester Union School in 1937 and attended the School for Childcare at the Children's Shelter in Manhattan, NYC. She was a current member of Worcester Central School Alumni Association for many years. Mrs. Boughton was married to Abram "Abe" C. Boughton on April 3, 1943 in the town of East Worcester, Abe passed away on March 24, 1997 after 53 years of marriage. In her early years, she was employed by E.C.O of Bendix in Sidney. Following her marriage to Abe, Rose became a fulltime homemaker. She was a 4-H Leader for many years in Richmondville. Rose was an avid bowler for many years, she played on leagues in addition to many county and state tournaments. In 2001, she was inducted into the Delaware-Green Hall of Fame of the Women's International Bowling Congress. She was a member of the Meri- Homemakers Club of Meridale, the Meridale Senior Citizens Organization and the Meredith Demoratic Club. Rose was a people person, She loved people and they loved her. She is survived by three children: Frederick Boughton and wife, Connie of DuPont, CO, Virginia White of Meridale, and Roland Boughton and wife, Evelyn of Camby, IN; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Abe, Rose was predeceased by her daughter, Roxanne Hitchcock on November 30, 2007 and her husband, Monty on May 13, 2004; son-in-law, Bruce White on August 16, 2011; an infant brothers, Victor; and two sisters, Angela Payne and Christina Ivansik. Memorial services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Tabernacle of the Congregation, on the Ouleout, with the Rev. Mark Mallaber officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale. We would like to thank the Nurses and Staff at Chestnut Park for their care of our Mom.
