Obituary of Virgina M. Jones
Virginia M. "Jean" Jones, 88, of DeLancey, formerly of Ridge, Long Island, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation in Amsterdam, NY
Born on April 15, 1926 in New York City, She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Frances (Simmons) Greene
She was married to the late Thomas R. Jones on September 15, 1963, Thomas passed away on March 19, 2008. Following his passing Jean came to live in DeLancey with her niece Cindy Harder. She then moved to the former Countryside Care Center in Delhi until its closure and then moved to Capstone Center in Amsterdam.
She had worked for many years as a meat packer for Bohack and King Kullen Supermarket in Ridge, Long Island.
Jean enjoyed baseball, she especially loved cheering on her beloved New York Mets.
She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, including: Edith Campbell of Delhi, Kathleen McCalib of Sedro Woolley, WA, Ruth Keenan of Caribou, ME, Cynthia Harder of DeLancey and Patricia Speenburgh of Delhi; a sister-in-law, Kay Ingram of Holbrook.
Besides her husband Thomas, Jean was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Greene, William Ingram and James Ingram; and a sister, Lucille Ingram.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi, with the Rev. Duane D. Buddle officiant. Graveside services will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, January 13 at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, Long Island.
