Obituary of Sophia M. Nash
Sophia M. Nash, 89 of Fall Clove, Andes, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home, Stamford, where she had been a resident for several years.
Born on June 26, 1927 in Jamaica, NY, Sophia was the daughter of late Thomas A. and Marie (Kinevine) McCauley. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James D. Nash the couple enjoyed over 65 years of marriage, until his passing on March 19, 2013.
Sophia worked for several companies over the years, first for Armour Star of Jamaica, NY as a meat processor and later working as a sewer in garment manufacturing until she became a full-time homemaker in her later years. Following Jim's retirement, the couple moved from West Islip to Andes in 1985.
Mrs. Nash volunteered at the Andes Historical Society Thrift Shop. She will always be remembered for her keen sense of humor.
Besides her husband, Sophia was predeceased by a son: James T. "Chip" Nash in 1990; and one brother: Edward McCauley.
She is survived by close friend, Genevieve Thompson and her family of Treadwell.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Hall and Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. Friends and relatives are invited to call from noon-1PM prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Andes Cemetery.
