Obituary of Barbara Arnold

Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Barbara Arnold passed away peacefully in her home in San Mateo, CA on March 12th, 2015, attended by her children. Barbara was born in Syracuse, and grew up in Sandy Creek, NY, daughter of Flora and Maurice S. Prescott, publisher. She attended Eastman School of Music, then Cornell University receiving BA in 1943. November 7, 1943 married Carl D Arnold Jr. (Sam) and moved to San Francisco, CA. 1961 they moved to Hillsborough, CA; In 1998 Sam passed and she moved to The Stratford in 2000. Barbara's passions for family, music, golf and gardening gave us all great happiness. Past member of the San Francisco Golf Club, a member and past Ladies' Golf Champion of the Burlingame Country Club, past President of the Hillsborough Garden Club, founding member of the Witches of Wall Street, and congregation member of St Matthews Episcopal Church. Survived by son, Carl D. Arnold III, daughter Johana Arnold Paterson, sister Patricia Prescott Hok, age 98, grandchildren: Barbara Paterson Parker, Rebecca Paterson, Carl D. Arnold IV (Spencer), Nina Arnold, and great grandson Isaac Nicholas Parker. Barbara spent many summers in Delhi with her husband Carl "Sam", who was a native of Delhi, and she made many friends in the area. Barbara will be buried next to her husband in the Mt. Vision Cemetery during a graveside ceremony at 5pm, Wednesday June 24. Friends are welcome to join the family. Pastor Mark Montford will officiate.
