It was pleasure having Mr. and Mrs. Dougherty visit us in Lascassas Tennessee. Much love to the family. We know he will be sadly missed. Love to all, David,Barbara,Robert Wayne, and Bella Minor.
We never got to spend a lot of time with this kind man, but what we both remember most was his quick wit. He made us laugh! But what we know most is from Emma. She loved him,so we know he was a great man who will be dearly missed. Our best to all the family.

Dick Dougherty was a man who never excluded anyone. You were always included. As big as his family is, he always had room for more. He never ran out of room or the ability to love or the ability to smile. He always had a desire to make you laugh, comfort you and welcome you with a joke or a story. Dick was everybody's father, everybody's uncle and as he got older, everybody's grandfather. Dick was an honorable man of integrity and he never had an unkind word to say about anybody. You would have to look very hard to find someone to say an unkind word about him. I have many memories of Dick and Margaret but there was never enough time to spend with them. You always wanted more. Family meant everything to him. He was a great husband, a wonderful father and truly a man of God. There are many nice things to be said about Dick. I think the greatest is the love he seemed to never run out of for you. He was a good and faithful servant. I know he is with Jesus now. I am sorry for our loss but it is Heaven's gain. There is an empty space in my heart and a beautiful person missing from the earth. I am blessed to call myself his family and blessed to have known such a wonderful man. To all the Dougherty's everywhere let this be a time for us to draw closer to each other and closer to Jesus.

I think of "grandpa" often. My condolences to "grandma" and the whole family. Dick and Marg cleaned at my office and I used to hang around just to see them. Very often got a sugar free candy from Dick. And of course a wonderful story!!

Back in 1958 uncle Dick brought his brand new shiny, ford to my parents house and took my brother an I for a ride. He probably drove a little faster than he should have , but we had a great time. Just one of several memories I have of uncle Dick. I'll miss you Uncle Dick. Pete
What a wonderful man. I certainly remember his days at Ames.
