Obituary of Nancy Lee McLaren
Nancy Lee McLaren, 63, of Delhi passed away suddenly on Friday, December 25, 2015 at her home.
She was born on November 15, 1952 in Mt. Kisco, NY. Nancy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Tice) McLaren.
Nancy was a 1970 graduate of John Jay High School in Cross River, NY, where she excelled in business classes. She was a determined, business minded lady, moving out on her own at the young age of 16. She was a graduate of SUNY Delhi, SUNY Oneonta and received a Master Degree in Accounting from Pace University. Nancy was an accomplished self-employed Certified Public Accountant.
She was married to Mark Gilligan, the couple enjoyed 32 years of marriage until his untimely passing in October of 2006.
Mark enjoyed raising and showing AKC Bedlington Terriers and Nancy showed Standard Black Poodles. Keeping with her love of animals, Nancy also raised and cared for domesticated Finches and studied their genealogy. She also appreciated nature and enjoyed hiking.
She is survived by her brother: James (Nancy Jean) McLaren of Cooks Falls; a sister: Martha L. (Daniel) McConnachie of Kingston, Ontario; and nieces: Jamie McLaren of Napa, CA, Casey McLaren of Somers, NY, Grace McConnachie of Ottawa, Ontario, and Sarah McConnachie of Charlottetown, PEI.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi, where a Celebration of Life and time of sharing will follow at 7PM at the funeral home.
