Obituary of Frances Johnson
Frances Johnson, 94, of Hamden, formerly of Brooklyn, went to join her beloved husband Harold in heaven on Tuesday evening, January 19, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on October 16, 1921 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Amelia (Sheilds) Boorman.
Frances was employed with the New York City Public Schools and worked as a secretary and teacher's aide until her retirement.
Mrs. Johnson was married on March 6, 1943 in Brooklyn, to the love of her life, Harold J. Johnson. They enjoyed over 71 years together until his passing on October 18, 2014.
Frances is survived by three sons: Harold (Angela) Johnson of Stamford, Arthur G. (Deborah) Johnson of Toms River, NJ and Gerard F. (Barbara) Johnson of Hamden; grandchildren: Bernadette (Paul) Barnao, Stacey (Edward) Stevens, Steven (Florence), Christopher (Gina), Eric (Katie), Keith (Gina), and Jerry (Jessica) Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson: Daniel Johnson.
A mass will be held a 11AM on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Delhi, with The Rev. Darius Mojallali celebrant. Burial will follow at Hamden Cemetery.
