Obituary of Paul L. Decker
Paul L. Decker, Sr., 59, formerly of Johnstown, passed away on Monday afternoon, August 1, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, surrounded by his family.
Born on March 31, 1957 in Gloversville, the son of the late Bert and Flora Jean (Schaffer) Decker.
He was raised in Caroga Lake, attended Wheelerville School and was a 1975 graduate of Johnstown High School.
In his earlier years Paul worked for Nathan Littauer Hospital and the former Johnstown Hospital as a respiratory technician, he also worked at the former Rainbow Restaurant as a bartender and then worked for over 25 years as a Youth Aide at the NYS OCFC - Tryon facility in Johnstown until its closure at that time his health forced his retirement.
He was a member of the Johnstown Lions Club, where he was a Past President of the club.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in law, Jan Mytelka.
He is survived by three children: Paul (Jessica) Decker of Delhi, Kristy (Greg) Migirditch of Collierville, TN, and Melissa (Mike) Dingmon of Gloversville; grandchildren: Grant and Garrett Decker, Samantha Migirditch and Ryan Dingmon; his twin sister, Cathy (William) Sartin of Gloversville; sister, Tammy Mytelka of Gloversville; nieces and nephews: Lyndy (Patrick) Sanger of Albany, Alysha (Krista) Sartin-Jensen, Alex and Greg Mytelka.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 2-4PM on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home, LLC, 15 N. William St., Johnstown. Private graveside funeral services will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
