Obituary of Donald A. Hawk
~~Donald A. “Hawkeye” Hawk, 72, of Davenport, formerly of Hobart, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, June 1, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.
Born on July 7, 1944 in Walton, Don was the son of the late Ida and Freeman Temple.
Don proudly served in the US Army from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
He was a machinic by trade, he worked for various local auto repair shops, and also was ran his own, however Don was a “jack of all trades” he could fix, repair or create just about anything.
Don enjoyed fishing and playing golf, one of his greatest joys was playing Santa Claus for many local school children. He was a kind-hearted gentleman, always willing to help anyone in need and was the type of person to “give you the shirt off his own back”. Don loved people and his home was always open, as his front door was always “swinging” with visitors. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Lynda Elmore; children: Theresa (Jason) Noble, Paul (Chris Scarselli) and Kurt (Bobbie) Palmer Sr; grandchildren: Jahred Skelton, Peyton Noble, Kurt Palmer Jr., Rebecca Palmer, Gina Sahner-Stiles; and many other family and friends dear to him.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11AM on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
Arrangements are with MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
