Obituary of Kathleen Madeline Ericson

Kathleen Madeline (Beadling) Ericson, 69, of Stamford, passed away suddenly on March 16, 2016 at AO Fox Hospital, Oneonta. Born on March 13, 1947 in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of Walter E. Beadling Sr. and Madeline T. (Coggins) Hitchcock. Kathleen was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson Central School and attended college at SUNY Cobleskill. She was married to Richard Ericson on October 4, 1969. Kathleen was a computer programmer for General Electric Co for several years, she then became a stay at home mom, until going on to Jefferson Central School where she worked as a secretary for the Superintendent and retired as an assistant in the Library, following her retirement she worked in respite care. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles. Kathleen enjoyed cooking large meals for her family to come and visit. She was active in the community, volunteering yearly for the Jefferson Maple Festival and helped organize Brimstone Church Annual Ham Dinner. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling in a local league. She was a former member of the Jefferson Baptist Church and more recently attended the Stamford Baptist Church. Above all else she was a dedicated mother and grandmother, always a constant supporter of her four girls in school and sports, which kept Kathleen "on her toes", long practices, late night games, concerts and more were the norm. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and love of family. Kathleen was predeceased by her mother: Madeline Coggins Hitchcock; and a granddaughter: Pheonix Mattice. She is survived by her father: Walter E. Beadling, Sr.; husband: Richard Ericson; brothers: John Beadling and Walter Beadling Jr.; daughters: Maureen Ericson Shafer, Amy Giaimo, Sarah Maxwell and Crystal Ericson; grandson: Dakota; granddaughters: Trinity, Seneca, Olivia, Katie, Ashliegh, Kayli and Michele; very dear friends: Charlene Webster and George Clapper; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Wednesday, March 23 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 40 Cornell Ave., Hobart. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, March 24 at the Stamford Baptist Church, 40 Lake St, Stamford, with the Rev. Waylen Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson.
