Janet Stoop

Obituary of Janet Stoop

Janet M. Stoop, 54, of Hamden, passed away suddenly at Albany Medical Center early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016. Born on May 2, 1961 in Margaretville, she was the daughter of the late James A. Lame and the late Naomi G. Pardee Calhoun. She was employed by the Delaware County ARC in Hamden as a life coach, a job that she made a life commitment, always looking out for those in her care and treating them as family. Janet loved motorsports, she was an avid snowmobiler and motorcyclist. She loved to drag race her sled, recently taking first place in her class in this in this year's local snowmobile drag races. She also enjoyed taking to the mud in her custom built off road Jeep. Janet liked to attend the local flea markets and shop yard sales. Above all else she was a devoted mother and proud grandmother, regardless of her other activities she was always there for her children and grandchildren, often planning their next adventure, whether it be a fishing or camping trip or spending time on the river. It was Janet's last wish for her children and grandchildren to know that she loved them more than they ever could imagine. Keeping with her giving and loving nature, even in death, Janet will continue to help people that will need her, as she was an organ, tissue and bone donor, and she not only will live on in the hearts of her family but also in the lives of so many that she will never know. Janet is survived by her fiancée, Dave Bailey of Hamden; daughers: Nichole (Darius) Newbold and Laura Jo (John) Synan both of Delhi; grandchildren: Anna, Dalilah, Noah, Logan, Maddex and Etta; brothers: Larry Lame of DeLancey, Anthony Lame of Walton and Nicholas Lame of Oneonta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be conducted from 1-3PM on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Hamden Town Hall, followed by a prayer service and time of remembrance at 3PM with the Rev. Bert More officiating. As Janet loved all creatures, the family wishes that contributions in memory of Janet be made to Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, 46610 State Highway 10, Delhi, NY 13753.
