Obituary of Ernest F. Decker
Ernest "Ernie" Floyd Decker, 70, of Hobart, passed away early Friday morning, June 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on December 10, 1945 in Stamford, he was the son of Harry A. and Margaret E. (Champlin) Decker.
Ernest proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 until his retirement and honorable discharge in 1984. He then worked for JC Penny Co. in Ft. Walden Beach, FL for many years.
He moved back to Hobart about 3 years ago to be closer to his family.
Ernie always had a great work ethic, he was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and nature. He also liked to cook and tend to his garden. Recently Ernie enjoyed feeding "pet" chipmunks that he had trained to come to right up him for a snack.
He is survived by his mother: Margaret Decker of Hobart; one brother: Marc (AJ) Decker of PA; sister-in-law: Marie Decker; two aunts: Doris Clark and Donna Champlin; one uncle: Leon Champlin; nieces and nephews: Andy, Roger, April and Lorena; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by longtime companion: Shirley; his father: Harry A. Decker; two brothers: Thomas and David Decker; and a nephew: Kris Decker.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
