Obituary of Caryl J. Dibble

Caryl J. Dibble, 85, of Bloomville, passed away late Wednesday evening, July 20, 2016 at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi, following a long illness surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 5, 1930 in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Vera Goodnough. She was a 1952 graduate of Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn School of Nursing. Caryl was married to Leonard Jesse Dibble on November 9, 1952, where she and Leonard settled on the family farm in Bloomville, the couple enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Leonard passed away on September 19, 2012 Mrs. Dibble was an accomplished Registered Nurse, working at several local health care facilities, including the former Bathgate Hospital in Stamford, the Delaware County Infirmary, O'Connor Hospital, Catskill Area Hospice, and retiring in 2011 at the age of 80 as a private care nurse with Delaware Co. Office of Long Term Care. Besides her nursing career, Caryl was also active in the operation of the family farm and was a fulltime mom to her four children. Caryl was very active in the Bloomville United Methodist Church, where she was a lay leader and served on several committees. Caryl also was a Delaware County Election Inspector for the Town of Kortright and substituted as School Nurse at South Kortright. She enjoyed sewing, needle work, crocheting, cross stitch, crossword puzzles, playing pinochle with the monthly card club and she was a gifted cook. More recently Caryl enjoyed adult coloring books. Mrs. Dibble is survived by two sons, Joseph A. (Constance C.) Dibble and Wayne D. dibble; two daughters, Susan D. (Gary B.) Aikens and Judy A. Dibble; grandchildren, Jesse, Jordan, Dennis, Traci, Caitlynn and Hunter and eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 12 at the Bloomville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dee Stevens and Rev. Burt More officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart. Contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta NY 13820
