Obituary of Edward F. Commandeur
It is with great sadness we announce that Edward F. Commandeur Jr. died at home on Monday, July 25, 2016.
He was born in Orange, NJ on November 6, 1928 and grew up in West Orange, NJ. He married his classmate Thelma Jane Clayton on September 22, 1951. They have been married 66 years.
Ed started his life as an avid outdoorsman at a young age. He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, expert fly-fisherman and lover of the outdoors. He wanted to be a Forest Ranger but did not feel it was prudent, so he started his career in banking.
Beginning as a teller at the local West Orange Bank, he retired as one of the Vice Presidents of Midlantic Bank, and took up his antiquing in retirement. He had a home in Shinhopple and moved to Delhi in 1985 after the death of his son Thomas.
Ed leaves a sister, Jeanne Commandeur Green, 98, of Stuart, FL; his family, wife Thelma Jane (Clayton) Commandeur of Delhi; sons: Peter (Denise) of Saratoga, CA, Bruce (Arden Keller) of Delhi, and Thomas(deceased); a daughter, Deborah (Jim) Corcoran of Delhi; grandchildren: Diane, Patty, Brendan, Justyna, Jeremy and Christopher; great-grandchildren: Lucian, Gunner, Dylon, Nicole, Sarabeth and Caprica.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the United Ministry of Delhi, Church Street, Delhi.
