Obituary of Jennie Mae Jones
Jennie Mae Jones, 92, of Stamford, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2016 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
Born on July 21, 1924 in Delhi, Jennie was the daughter of the late Lyle and Edith (Hunt) Carpenter.
She was married on June 17, 1944 in Oneonta to Harold "Pete" Jones, he passed away in 1988.
Through the years Jennie worked as a secretary at Stamford Medical Center and alongside her husband, Pete, helping on various farms and their farm equipment business. After many years of enjoying sewing and crafts, she passed her skills along working at the Fabric Patch in Stamford.
Jennie enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and making jewelry, however Jennies greatest joy was taking care of her family, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters: Rose Mary (Zachery) LeRoy of Stamford, Beverly (Norwood Tompkins) McIntosh of South Kortright and Theresa (Wayne) Williams of Hobart; grandchildren: Robin (Joe) Palmatier of Hobart, Marc (Joni) LeRoy of Canajoharie, Andy (Amy) LeRoy of Iowa, Betsy (Todd) Stinson of South Kortright, Bridgett (Preston Buff) McIntosh of Virginia, Wayne Williams II of Hobart and Brent (Allison) Williams of Laurens; great-grandchildren: Leann, Joshua, Micala, Charlie, Christian, Dalton, Dylan, Cody, Kaitlyn, Cailyn, Ryleigh and Cole; great-great-grandchild: Olivia; brother: Clarence "Bud" Carpenter of Delhi; sister: Edna Olsowski of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, Jennie was predeceased by two grandchildren: Robert "Duba" McIntosh, Jr., and Rebecca McIntosh; son-in-law: Robert McIntosh; and a sister: Nancy Ballard.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, Private burial will take place in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
Jennie's family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville for the exceptional care given of the last few years.
