Obituary of John Braymer
John Braymer passed away at home with his family by his side on Saturday morning October 15 after a lengthy illness. John remained good-humored throughout his illness.
Born in 1930 at Walton Hospital, the son of the late Mabel Parsons Braymer and Alfred Braymer.
He was married to Elizabeth (Bette) Rosa on September 4, 1955.
Mr. Braymer was a proud US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and played baseball for the Army.
John attended Harpur College and SUNY Delhi, he retired as Post Master of the Delhi Post Office in 1987.
He was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. John was an exceptional athlete, a member of the 1947-48 Delaware Academy State Championship Basketball team, and was inducted into the Section 4 Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Braymer was a 50-year member of the American Legion, and a 60-year member of the Delhi Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and started the Poverty Hollow Christmas Tree and Blueberry Farm.
John is survived by his wife, Bette, with whom he shared 61 years of wedded bliss. He is also survived by Hugh and Marion Rosa, Fayal Rosa, and Joe and Helen Rosa. His five beautiful daughters whom he loved to the moon and back - Lori, Susie, Amy, Sylvia and Jan. Each of whom is happily married Lori to Al Reed, Susie to Leland Stein, Amy to Tom Engels, Sylvia to Phil Rowlands and Jan to Doug Sohns. He is also survived by 13 super hero grandchildren: Jessica Reed-Raber who is married to David Raber, Heath Stein who is engaged to Cheryl McDonald; Teresa Reed, Julie Stein-Balcavage and her husband Greg, Travis Reed and his wife Raegan; Brandon Rowlands; Brett Sohns, Brianna Rowlands-Brennan and her husband Tom; Amber Sohns-DeVantier and her husband Kevin; Kellin Rowlands and his wife Amanda; Taylor Sohns and his fiancé Amanda Cava; Tommy John Engels, and Amanda "save the best for last" Engels. And 19 junior hero great grandchildren Kyler, Logan, Elodie, Kaitlyn, Jack, Mason, Silas, Olivia, Anna, George, Beatrice, Maddeson, Kennidy, Owen, Lily, Tyler, Althea, Rory, and Lola. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Shalkey, Barbara Borsavage, Grace White and a sister-in-law, Vivian Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, October 18 at MacArthur Funeral Home 131 Main Street, Delhi, friends and relatives are invited to call one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
