Obituary of Genevieve Chichester

BLOOMVILLE _ Genevieve Chichester, 90, formerly of Bloomville, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta. She was born on July 13, 1920, in the Town of Kortright, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Swiderska) Dorosky. She married Morris Chichester on June 23, 1951. He predeceased her Jan. 29, 1995. A homemaker Mrs. Chichester spent her life in Bloomville. She was a graduate of Bloomville School; worked as a bookkeeper for the Creamery in Bloomville; and served as a Tax Collector for the Town of Kortright. A member of the Church of the Most Precious Blood in South Kortright, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Genevieve and Morris spent many winters in Fort Myers, Fla. Her last years were spent living with her daughter and enjoying the time with family. She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Richard) Klein of Otego; grandsons, Jason and Aaron Berge of Otego; granddaughter, Annie (Kelley) Judd of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Seth Berge and Regan Berge. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Chichester; three sisters, Anna Schabloski, Josephine Oblinski, Sophie Bilek; a brother, Frank Dorosky; and sister-in-law, Gladys; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Calling hours will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, with the Rev. Michael Gambi as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bloomville Fire Department or Emergency Squad. Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
