Obituary of Ruth Sturgess

Hobart Township Ruth Sturgess of Hobart Township passed away August 10, 2011 at home. She was born in Treadwell, New York, a Christmas preasent to her parents, Earl and Eva (Miller) Decker on their first Anniversary, December 25, 1913. She graduated from A.L. Kellogg School and attended Delhi Ag. & Tech. She found employment at the Sheffield Creamery in Hobart. She met the love of her life, Harold Sturgess. They were married September 19, 1936 and enjoyed 72 years of marriage until his death on November 11, 2008. Ruth is survived by her daughter Wanda Palmatier; also five grandchildren, John (jake) Jr. and Sheri, Joseph, and Robin, Robert and Roxanne, Eric and Bridget and Todd and Stacy. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Leann, Josh, Matthew, Makayla, Carter, Amanda, Erica, Ty, Samantha, and Jeffrey, and three great-great-grandchildren John and Rose German, and Aiden Palmatier. She was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, daughter Annette and son-in-law John Palmatier. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00am at the Township Methodist Church with pastor Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 12 from 7-9pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart, New York. Burial will follow the service in Township Cemetery, Hobart Township, New York.
