Obituary of Anna M. Hotaling

DAVENPORT — Anna M. Hotaling, 97, of Davenport, passed away in her sleep, Jan. 29, 2013, at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation, Oneonta. She was born Oct. 3, 1915, in the town of Kortright, the daughter of Valentine and Leonora (Kecmer) Swantak. She married the late Earl N. Hotaling on July 31, 1943, in the town of Kortight. He predeceased her June 21, 2007. A housewife, who was involved in the farm, she resided on Elk Creek Road., Delhi, from 1943 to 2008, when she went to live with her son, Roger and his wife, Sandy in Davenport, and just recently to Chestnut Park, Oneonta. She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta. She is survived by three sons, Roger and Sandra Hotaling, Davenport, Wendell and Elizabeth Hotaling, Delhi, and Glenn and Heather Hotaling Pindars Corners; grandchildren, Randy and Dawnette Hotaling, Delhi, Kelly and Megan Hotaling, Pindars Corners; stepgrandchildren, Theresa Hernandez, Albany, Michael and Leah Hernandez, Oneonta; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hotaling, East Meredith, Lauren Hotaling, Davenport Center; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kelly Tishmacher, Oneonta, Kate Swantak, Delhi, Ava Hernandez, Oneonta. A sister, Helen Sega of Richmondville, also survives. And the family dog, "Bubba." She was predeceased by four brothers, Frank Swantak, Mike Swantak, Joe Swantak and Steve Swantak; and five sisters, Sofie Cole, Effie Rupershek, Mary Chapman, Jennie Meehan and Antosia Balinski. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with Father Edward Golding, as celebrant. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring in East Meredith Cemetery, East Meredith. Contributions in her memory may be made to Davenport Fire Department.
