Obituary of DeAnna Evans
DELHI _ DeAnna Evans, 62, of Delhi, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
She was born on May 18, 1949, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Drag) Koval. DeAnna graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1967. After graduating, she spent time living in Boston, New York, Albany, and Ithaca, working in various secretarial positions.
After getting married to David Evans in 1975, they lived in Canajoharie and Newport, Vt., before settling in Delhi in 1980.
After taking time away from work to raise her children, DeAnna went back to school and earned a degree in nursing from SUNY Delhi in 1988. She returned to work as a registered nurse, first at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, then at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi.
DeAnna enjoyed spending her time outdoors on warm weather days. She spent much of her free time reading or working crossword puzzles on her deck at home, taking walks, bike rides, or working on her yard. She always had a love for travel and adventure. She enjoyed the company and conversation of her close friends, as well as the companionship of her two cats at home. She will be remembered by her friends and family as a caring and loving person, as well as a devoted mother.
DeAnna was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Delhi.
Along with her mother, Helen, she is survived by her brother, Martin (Christina) Koval of Buckley, Wash.; her sons, Daren Evans of Delhi and Marc (Christine) Evans of Walton; her grandchildren, Mayla and Nolan; her niece, Sarah (Brandon) Howell; and her nephew, Kyle Koval.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Koval; and her sister, Christine Oare of Gloversville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Delhi, with the Rev. Edward J. Golding officiating. Burial will follow the service in Woodland Cemetery in Delhi.
