Obituary of Clarence Lorenzo Whispell

HOBART _ Clarence Lorenzo Whispell, 75, of Hobart, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford. He was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Hobart, the son of Theodore R. and Edith (Smith) Whispell. Clarence never married. He was employed at Catskill Craftsman in Stamford and worked for the Village of Hobart for many years. An avid fan of South Kortright Central sports he loved to attend the games; soccer, basketball, softball or baseball. He was a member of the Hobart United Methodist Church. Clarence was fondly referred to as the "Mayor of Hobart." He is survived by two sisters, Shirley Whispell, Hobart and Helen Havrish, Stamford; two aunts, Frances Kristofik, Oneonta, and Beatrice Laskaris, Oneonta; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Hobart United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman officiating. Calling hours will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. Burial will follow the service in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
