Obituary of Dorothy L. Partelow

DELHI _ Dorothy L. Partelow, 88, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica on Saturday, April 14, 2012, from natural causes. Dorothy and her late husband, Ralph, were married 66 years before his death in 2007. Dorothy was born on Dec. 6, 1923, to Bertha and Fred Willets in White Plains. She attended elementary and high school in Scarsdale, before marrying Ralph on July 12, 1941, in Bedford. While Ralph served in the United States Army during World War II, Dorothy traveled to several locations around the United States to visit with him on furloughs. Dorothy and Ralph lived in Langhorn, Pa., from 1945 to 1950, before moving to Holmes, where they lived until 1980. Their son, Ralph Jr. (1946) and daughter, Karen (1950) were born while they lived in Langhorn. Daughter, Eileen was born in 1956. In 1980, they moved to their retirement home in Delhi, before Dorothy moved to Rome, to be close to her daughter, in 2008, following her husband's death the previous year. Dorothy and Ralph also had two daughters that died at birth, Carolyn Gail and Dorothy Eva. Dorothy worked at a local nursing home for many years while living in Holmes. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening and garage sales and being with her family. Family members that Dorothy leaves are a son, Ralph of Worland, Wyo.; daughters, Karen (Jeff) Lovett of Kinston, N.C., and Eileen (Ian) Banks of Rome; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A private grave service is planned Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in the Andes Cemetery of Andes. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.macarthurfh.com.
