Obituary of Quentin Gordon Van Nortwick

JEFFERSON _ Quentin Gordon Van Nortwick, of Jefferson, died April 27, 2012, peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Quentin was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Saranac Lake, the son of Gordon Adrian and Edith (West) Van Nortwick. "Van," as he was known, graduated from Cornell University in 1960, and served two years in the United States Army. He worked for the NYSDEC for 35 years as a wildlife biologist and manager. He enjoyed hunting and fishing the Adirondacks and Catskill regions as well as skeet shooting. Van asked that you not mourn his death, but celebrate his life! He hopes to see all of you in a better place some day. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Van Nortwick) McGregor; and granddaughter, Cassidy McGregor; his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth (Dudas) Van Nortwick, George and Alma Dudas and Elizabeth (Dudas) and husband Ed Durnburger; and former wife, Patricia (Doroski) Van Nortwick; and children, Jody Doroski, John Doroski, and Robyn (Doroski) and husband Dennis Flannery; and seven more grandchildren. Surviving sisters include, Gail Martucci of Fayetteville, Ariz., Cheryl Van Nortwick of Plattsburgh, and Nancy and husband Frank Soldwedel of Lake George; and two aunts and numerous cousins in New York and Massachusetts. Quentin was predeceased by his mother, father and one sister, Bonnie Van Nortwick. As requested by "Van," there will be no calling hours.
