Obituary of John Scott Boyd
DELHI -- John Scott Boyd, 65, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born in Margaretville Hospital on Dec. 27, 1946, the son of John R. and Mary Scott Boyd.
Raised in Andes, he left after his sophomore year to attend Manlius Military Academy from which he graduated in 1965. He attended Norwich University in Vermont and then served four years in the Air Force.
A computer analyst in the Metropolitan area for 30 years, he relocated to Oneonta in 2000 and worked for The Daily Star as a delivery driver.
John liked to hunt and play sports. He was very involved in Scouting, receiving the God and Country Award and was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Andes United Presbyterian Church.
A sister, Barbara Skovsende and her husband, Niels; two nephews, Thomas (Georgetta) and Garry (Denise), all of North Franklin, survive.
Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Andes Cemetery, Andes.
