Obituary of Janet E. Wittko

SOUTH KORTRIGHT Janet E. Wittko, 71, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with her family by her side after a lengthy fight with cancer. She was a long term resident of South Kortright, NY, and for the past 17 years resided in Ash, NC. Janet was born December 15, 1940 in Bovina Center, NY. She was married in 1967 to Robert C. Wittko, Sr. of South Kortright, NY. Janet owned and operated a beauty salon, (Jan's Beauty Salon) in Stamford, NY prior joining her husband in their hearing aid business (Wittko Hearing Aid Center) in Oneonta, NY. They moved to Ash, NC in 1995 where they continued their hearing aid business in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Janet loved working with people to improve their hearing. Janet loved people and was especially devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She loved to cook for them and loved a big celebration at holiday time. Janet is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert C. Wittko, Sr.; her sister, Anna Mae Massey (Ray), of Bridgewater, NY; six children, Robert Dyer, Jr., of Ellijay, GA; Pamela Jenkins (Gary) of Mansfield, PA; Michealle Cole (Jim), of Burlington Flats, NY; Marlene Reed (DJ), of Stamford, NY; Robert Wittko, Jr. (Bett), of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Tami Fancher (Dan), of South Kortright, NY; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Barrett of Conway, SC, and Clara Smith of West Winfield, NY. Family and friends are welcome to greet the family at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 40 Cornell Ave., Hobart, on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Waylen Bray officiating, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Valley View Cemetery, South Kortright, NY. Following the burial, friends and family are welcome to gather at the home of Tami Fancher on Betty Brook Road, South Kortright. Condolences can be left for the family online at www.macarthurfh.com.
