Obituary of James L. Thompson
DELHI
James L. Thompson Sr. age 75 died Friday July 6, 2012 at his home in Delhi NY.
Mr. Thompson was born in Newburgh, NY on October 22, 1937. He was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Lamont) Thompson.
He was graduated from Newburgh Free Academy class of 1955. He worked for West Point Military Academy where he was Moral Support Officer and coached their bowling team. An avid sportsman he coached Town of Newburgh Little League and Youth Basketball. He worked for many years as a High School football official and umpired college softball, recreation softball and high School baseball. He was also a Hunter Safety Teacher and a past member of a Moose Lodge, Black Rock Fish and Game Club and Delhi Golf Course. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and in later years loved to cook.
He is survived by his wife Jean (Hawver) Thompson whom he married in 1956; four children: Patricia Sarles and husband Rich of Newburgh, NY, Lori Mott of New Windsor, NY, James Thompson, Jr. and wife Heather of Wallkill, NY, Joanne Augustine and partner Brandon Donnelly of Edgewater, Fl; Sister Jean Cox of Newburgh, NY; brothers Gordon Thompson of FL and Thomas Thompson of Fl; 9 grandchildren: Philip, Casey, Kayla, Jessica, Tyler, Dana, Lindsay, Michael and Declan; and one great grandchild, Chiarra.
A brother Joseph Thompson, sister Beverly Thompson and son-in-law Paul Mott predeceased him.
A private service is to be determined at a later date by the family.
