Obituary of Glenn Milo Valentine

DELHI Glenn Milo Valentine, 84, of Delhi, died unexpectedly at home in Delhi on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. He was born on April 26, 1928 at home in Delhi, the son of Earl W. and Minnie Marie (Johnson) Valentine. He married Anne Doig on June 27, 1959 at the First Presbyterian Church in Delhi. Glenn graduated from Delaware Academy in 1946 and served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan from 1946 until December of 1947. He graduated from Alfred Ag & Tech in June of 1950. Glenn worked on construction as a union electrician for many years. In 1968 he founded the Vocational Electrical Construction and Maintenance program at SUNY Delhi. In 1986 he graduated with a BS from Utica Rome and retired in 1991 as an associate professor from SUNY Delhi. After retiring he and Anne spent winters in West Palm Beach, FL. Glenn served as a Village of Delhi Trustee for many years. He was a member of the Delhi Masonic Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church, Delhi. He is survived by his wife, Anne Valentine at home in Delhi; his daughters, Elizabeth (Kyle) Abraham of Lubbock, TX, Kay (David) Stilwell of Poughkeepsie, and Margaret Valentine of North Potomac, MD; his grandchildren, Amanda and Brad Stilwell, Elliot and Katherine Abraham, Alex and Katrina Garzon; his sister, Ann Pickett of Mohawk; his brother in law, James and Betty June Doig of LaGrange, IL; and his niece Leslie (Steve) McKeegan of Delhi. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Eleanor Valentine. Calling hours will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 13, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, where a Masonic Service will be presented at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the First Presbyterian Church, Delhi, with Rev. James Hicks officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi. Contributions in Glenn's memory are asked to be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Delhi.
